This CWF valve uses a double-disc for sealing and the sealing surfaces are made from wear-resistant alloy or ceramic. The seal is 100% airtight and the valve achieves a long service life, particularly in abrasive applications. Consequently, overall system reliability is increased dramatically.
Features and Benefits
During manufacture of the valve, each disc and sealing ring pair is lapped until a 100% airtight seal is obtained. Even fine particles find it difficult to penetrate the lapped mating surfaces. A compression spring is placed between the two discs and ensures good contact with the mating sealing rings.
When the valve is actuated, the double-disc rotates and laps automatically against the metal sealing rings. Hence, a 100% airtight seal is maintained, even as the discs and sealing rings wear over time. The rotating action of the double-disc ensures even wear of each mating surface.
After manufacture, each valve is air-pressure-tested and 100% airtight sealing is confirmed and certified. The double-disc compression spring also allows for thermal expansion and contraction. A minimum pressure of 0.3MPa-g is required to actuate the valve.
During operation, the valve provides a full- bore and unrestricted flow of material. When product flows through the valve, any material entering the inner chamber is removed by vortex action. Hence, the valve is “self-cleaning”.
